COMSTOCK PARK — The West Michigan Whitecaps will adopt a new identity as the Michigan Snowbirds for a promotional night on Aug. 1, 2026. The event will take place at LMCU Ballpark and is sponsored by Visit Central Florida.
The promotion blends Midwestern summer traditions with tropical themes, featuring specialized food, drinks and merchandise. Gates for the event are scheduled to open at 5:45 p.m.
Concession stands will feature several tropical-inspired menu items for the event. These include Miami Vices, which will be served in both alcohol-infused versions and non-alcoholic styles. Dessert options include Key Lime Pies, pink cotton candy and Gram’s Seaside Sundaes, a treat featuring blue goo flavor burst, graham crackers and caramel.
The team will wear a new official jersey designed with a blue floral pattern. The jersey features an inflatable flamingo on the front and a wordmark in a retro font across the chest, where a flower replaces the letter “O.” The uniform is completed by a teal and white fitted cap with an embroidered patch of the snowbird character.
The Whitecaps have released themed merchandise for fans, including t-shirts, hoodies and various headwear such as safari, sun and bucket hats. Other items for sale include lip balm, sunscreen and beach balls. Team officials noted that while beach balls are available for purchase, Major League Baseball rules require their confiscation if they are used during gameplay.
The “Michigan Snowbird” identity is modeled after residents who travel south during the winter and return for the Midwestern summer. Defining characteristics of the persona include a white nose covered in zinc oxide, knee-high socks worn with sandals and a relaxed demeanor.
Additional information regarding specific food and entertainment for the night is expected to be released throughout the summer.
