DETROIT- The Detroit Lions are set to interview former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson for their open offensive coordinator position on Thursday.
Robinson, a former NFL quarterback drafted in 2010, began his coaching career in 2019 with the Los Angeles Rams, having experience with current Lions quarterback Jared Goff. After gaining coaching experience as an assistant quarterbacks coach and later as the pass game coordinator, he served as the offensive coordinator for the Falcons for the past two seasons.
In his first year with the Falcons, Robinson’s offense ranked 13th in scoring, and in the second year, it dropped to 24th in the league. Despite the performance dip, Robinson maintained a strong running game led by star running back Bijan Robinson, who had a league-high 2,298 yards from scrimmage this past season and earned First-Team All-Pro honors.
Robinson, now 39 years old, is regarded as a young and promising coaching talent. Earlier this week, he also interviewed for the offensive coordinator role with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
