Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run in Montcalm County, is expected to live

MONTCALM COUNTY - Around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a person walking in the roadway of Stanton Road near Maple Hill Road in Pierson Township. 

When the deputies arrived at the scene, they found a person lying near the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle, they said. The car had fled the scene, deputies said.

The man was identified as a 31-year-old from Pierson.

He was taken to Corwell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services, and it has been reported that his injuries, although significant, were not life-threatening, deputies said.

The man was believed to have been walking in the westbound land wearing dark clothing, deputies said. The area where the crash took place is unlit. 

Car parts were seized at the scene, deputies said, and an investigation is ongoing.
