Winter Storm Warning:

For Antrim-Otsego-Kalkaska-Crawford, Western and Central Chippewa Counties until 7 AM Thursday.

4-8″ of snow with isolated higher amounts of 12″+ will be possible. Winds could gust upwards of 40 mph, blowing and drifting fresh snow.

Winter Weather Advisory:

For Luce County until 7 AM Thursday.

4-8″ of snow will be possible with isolated higher amounts. Winds will also be gusting upwards of 40mph.

For Southeastern Chippewa, Mackinac and Newaygo Counties until 10 PM Wednesday.

3-6″ of snow will be possible with isolated higher amounts. Winds will blow and drift the snow with gusts upwards of 40mph.

For Emmet, Presque Isle, Alpena, Cheboygan, Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee, Grand Traverse, Charlevoix, Missaukee, Roscommon and Wexford counties until 7 AM Thursday.

2-5″ of snow will be possible. Wind gusts will be the strongest closer to Lake Michigan.

For Mason, Oceana, Lake, and Newaygo counties until 7 AM Thursday.

3-6″ of snow will be possible with isolated higher amounts.


Today: Snowy & Cold

This clipper system will continue to move throughout our region today.

Embedded in the system is more lake effect showers.

This is causing localized areas to see higher accumulation totals into the afternoon.

Winds are strong from the NW at 15-25 mph.

This will help lake effect continue into the evening.

Temps in the mid-teens to mid-20s, when feel-like temps even colder.

New Years Eve: Bundle Up!

If you are heading out for any NYE festivities or parties, it will be cold!

Temps ringing in the new year will trend in the single digits & teens.

Expecting lake effect snow to continue tonight.

Winds from the NW at 10-20 mph.

New Years Day: Limited Snow

More lake effect snow showers in the U.P. & Tip of the Mitt New Year’s Day on Thursday.

Drier skies further South.

Highs for New Year’s Day will stay in the low teens to low 20s.

Friday & Weekend: Isolated Lake Effect

Drier skies for many on Friday.

Just a small chance of snow in the U.P.

Highs in the upper teens to low 20s.

Isolated lake effect will continue back on Saturday.

Highs are in the low teens to low 20s.

Skies are similar on Sunday, with a system moving in overnight into Monday.

Highs are a little warmer in the upper teens to upper 20s.

Next Week: Mixed System

On Monday expecting some snow in the AM with drier skies by the afternoon.

Temps are in the low 20s to low 30s.

Another system will develop for Tuesday bringing in some mixed precip.

As of right now, this will be for the Lower Peninsula with more snow in the U.P.

Highs in the upper teens to low 30s.
