DETROIT — The Detroit Lions have traded running back David Montgomery to the Houston Texans in exchange for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and two draft picks.
According to reports from Adam Schefter, the Lions received a fourth-round pick and a seventh-round pick in addition to Scruggs. The trade follows reports from the weekend indicating that Montgomery sought to leave the Detroit organization.
Montgomery is coming off a season where he recorded more than 700 rushing yards. He also scored eight touchdowns during the previous campaign for the Lions. Reports surfaced over the weekend that the veteran running back expressed a desire to leave the franchise via a trade.
