Greg Lingaur: The dependable face behind Leland’s scorekeeping for 46 years

LELAND - Greg Lingaur has served as the “man behind the scorer’s table” for Leland Athletics for more than 46 years. A Leland alum and former basketball player for the Comets, Lingaur has worked as a scorekeeper through thousands of games and supported multiple generations of student-athletes.

Known affectionately as “Greggy,” Lingaur provides scorekeeping services for boys and girls basketball, soccer, and volleyball at the middle school, freshman, JV, and varsity levels.

Ryan Knudsen, Leland’s former athletic director and current head boys basketball coach, noted that the program relies on Lingaur’s consistency despite widespread shortages of game workers and officials. In the last 23 years, Jeremy said he could count on one hand how many times Lingaur has missed a game. “Throughout those 46 years, Greg has been one of the most dependable and reliable people you’ll ever meet,” Jeremy said. “He’s helped support multiple generations of student athletes and their families. But there’s only one Greg, and we are extremely lucky to have him.”

Once basketball season concludes, Greg will be back in action for soccer in the Spring.
