Justin Verlander returns to Detroit Tigers on one-year deal

DETROIT — Justin Verlander is returning to the Detroit Tigers.

The club announced Tuesday they signed the veteran right hander to a 1 year, $13 million deal.

The soon-to-be 43-year-old was drafted by the Tigers in 2004 and pitched for the team from 2005-2017 before being traded to the Houston Astros.

The 3x Cy Young winner joins a pitching staff with 2x Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal and the recently added Framber Valdez.

JV spent the 2025 season with the San Francisco Giants where we went 4-11 with a 3.85 ERA.
