Michigan State football adds John McNulty as quarterbacks coach

EAST LANSING - Michigan State football, led by new head coach Pat Fitzgerald, has hired John McNulty as the program’s new quarterbacks coach. Pete Thamel of ESPN first reported the hiring on Wednesday.

McNulty began his coaching career in 1991 at the University of Michigan. He started his tenure with the program as a graduate assistant.

Before transitioning to coaching, McNulty was a member of the football program at Penn State. He played as a walk-on safety for the Nittany Lions.

His collegiate coaching history includes several stops at high-profile programs. McNulty has held positions on the coaching staffs at Alabama, Notre Dame, and Penn State.

Beyond his work with quarterbacks, McNulty has coached wide receivers and tight ends at both the college and NFL levels. He also has experience as an offensive coordinator, holding that role at Rutgers and Boston College.
