Bulldogs prepare for top rivalry game against Lakers

BIG RAPIDS- The top-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs are treating this week of practice like any other, even though their rivalry with Grand Valley State University has produced some of the best games in college football in recent years.

Each team had been ranked within the top 15 in the country for their regular-season meeting in each of the last nine years. This year, the Lakers enter the game ranked 18th.

The Bulldogs have won nine of the last 12 meetings and head into this weekend as the leaders in Division 2 in both points and yards per game, while also averaging under ten points allowed on defense.

The Anchor Bone trophy returned to Big Rapids last year after GVSU brought it home in 2022 and 2023. This year’s game will be the first time Ferris State will be at home in two seasons.

Kickoff will be on Saturday at 1 p.m., and we caught up with the Bulldogs to see what their mindset and preparation have been like heading into this weekend.
