BUCKLEY- The Buckley Volleyball team made school history last week by capturing the first conference title in program history.
It’s a first for either of the two conferences Buckley has been a part of; they clinched a share of the Northwest Conference with Onekama and Suttons Bay after a win over Frankfort, and they’ll now get to raise a banner
Volleyball was the sole team at Buckley without a conference championship when head coach Jordin Ellens arrived, and now, in her third season with the Bears, the team’s goals are bigger than just the conference.
“I love this group. They are a good group of girls. Overall, they’re great athletes. Most of them are juniors, so they still have all year to learn. And, I always tell people that I’m spoiled.
And now, to say in the third year, I share a conference with two other really good schools is probably the height of my coaching career so far, and we want to hang a regional banner" (Ellens).
Buckley will host their ‘Dig Pink’ game against GTA Academy on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
