BEAR LAKE- Samantha Mullet is in her third season as the Bear Lake head football coach and is currently tied for the best start to a season in program history.
The Lakers dominantly defeated Mesick last week, and the Detroit Lions announced on Tuesday that Mullet has been named the Detroit Lions state-wide high school Coach of the Week.
Bear Lakes’ 56-8 win kept the team’s season average above 50 points per game, and now sitting 4-2, she has a chance to lead the Lakers to their first back-to-back winning seasons in program history.
There have been many firsts for Mullet throughout her career, as she was also the first female head high school football coach in the state of Michigan, and her program will now receive a $1,000 donation as a result of being the first Bear Lake coach to win the Lions Award.
