ST. IGNACE- The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan is adding two new members to its Hall of Fame Sunday, each of whom were pillars of the St. Ignace community.
Dorene Ingalls has led the Saints girls basketball teams to five state championships, 9 state finals appearances, 542 career wins, and was a 3-time BCAM coach of the year. She will continue to lead the team this coming season.
Her husband Doug Ingalls led the Saints boys basketball team for 25 years before his retirement following the 2024 season. In his last year, the Saints advanced to the final four, and Ingalls was named D4 AP Coach of the Year. In his career, he amassed more than 370 wins and 10 district championships, and is a former BCAM state coach of the year
The Hall of Fame nod is a fitting honor for two legendary coaches.
