TRAVERSE CITY- The Traverse City Pit Spitters were back home for their second game of the Northwoods league playoffs opening round againts the Kalamazoo Growlers. With a win they’d advance to the next round and claim the Great Lakes championship.
They got off to a hot start in this one, plating three runs in the first three innings, and added two more in the bottom of the eighth and would go on to win 5-0. They now advance to play the Green Bay Rockers in a single game Tuesday night in which the winner advances to the Northwoods league championship game.
Field manager Todd Reid spoke after the game about what it meant to win the first half, second half, and now the opening playoff series at home in front of teh loyal Traverse City fans.
