BOYNE CITY - The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) announced that former Boyne City head football coach Dave Hills will be inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Hills led the Ramblers for 16 years, taking them to two State Semifinal appearances in 2001 and 2014. He won numerous conference, district and regional titles, compiling an overall record in 125-45. Hills stepped away after the 2018 season and said he was humbled to be honored alongside some legendary coaches.
Hills talked about what made coaching and winning so special.
“Winning is kind of the carrot, you know, you’re getting everybody to work towards that goal. In doing that is kind of where the magic happens. That’s where you’re working with kids and you’re teaching them how to, work towards something to put aside maybe their own personal, self-interests and work towards, a team, and a goal.” said Hills. “You know, to me, that’s what it’s all about. I mean, we’re really trying to, work at developing these life skills and winning, I think, is a product of doing all those things right.”
Hills will be inducted in June and will join some other former Boyne City coaches in the Hall of Fame.
