EVART - The Evart Wildcats softball team won the first state championship in school history last year. The Wildcats lost 6 seniors from that team but still return a lot of talent including all-state players Kyrah Gray and Mattisen Tiedt. Head coach Shaun Gray will be leading the Wildcats for just the 2nd season, and he knows that there’s work to do to get this Evart squad back to East Lansing.
“I’m definitely not thinking about back-to-back right now. We’re a long way away from the team that we were last year. We got a lot of I wouldn’t say holes, but we’ve got a lot of question marks that we need answered before we even become that team. Are we capable of making a deep run again? Yeah, sure, but that would go against our mentality of even last year of taking it one game at a time,” said Gray.
The Wildcats open up their season on April, 12th against Traverse City St. Francis.
