ALLENDALE - The Ferris State Bulldogs women’s basketball team fell to the Ashland Eagles 62-50 in the first round of midwest regional action. The Bulldogs fell behind early and while it was a close game throughout the Eagles prevailed in the end and the advance to take on Northern Michigan in the next round.
Bulldogs head coach Kurt Westendorp talked about the fight that his team showed against one of the best team in the country.
“You know they got their ranking you know they have their seeding for a reason. They’ve got a lot of seniors on that team and they’re a really well coached team.” Said Westendorp. “They haven’t lost since December. So I felt like we did an excellent job of making this a battle. You know, we had to make it a battle. You’re playing for only 40 more minutes. But they just did an awesome job making some key shots late. You know, that is probably the difference in the ballgame.”
The Bulldogs season ends with a 21-12.
