BIG RAPIDS - The Ferris State women’s basketball team is in the NCAA tournament for the 3rd time in the last four years. The Bulldogs are the number 7 seed in the Midwest regional and will take on the number 2 seed Ashland in Allendale in the first round. Ferris State took on Ashland earlier this year with Ashland getting the win in Big Rapids, but the Bulldogs had won the previous 2 matchups, including a playoff victory last year.
Ferris State head coach Kurt Westendorp talked about what it was like getting into the tournament when they were on the bubble.
“It’s a lot of stress. You know, there’s a lot of just worry and angst until you see your name called Sunday night. That’s when you can finally, you know, have a little bit of that stress release and it’s like, okay, all that pent up aggression can kind of be let go. Now you get through Monday, it’s like, okay, well, now you got to turn your sights to Ashland,” said coach Westendorp.
Tipoff is set for 2:30 in Allendale.
