Blue Devils and Brimley Bays boys and girls clash in Rivals vs Cancer games in Sault Ste. Marie

SAULT STE. MARIE- The annual Rivals vs cancer games took place in the Soo today as the Blue Devils boys and girls teams hosted Brimley. All of the night’s proceeds went to Michigan Riad to Recovery and Blue Devil alumni Mackenzie Kalchik-Paul, who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2023.

“We are a community that always comes together for any cause but in the case, for a kid that is from here, what a great opportunity and great cause that this community put together. I try to say something to her once, twice, three times a week. It’s a battle. I always end with ‘keep fighting just like you did on the court, just keep fighting’. All our thoughts and prayers are with her” (Pat Bennin, coached Mackenzie in high school).

In the games, both Blue Devil teams took home wins, the boys by a score of 61-49, and the girls won 71-22.
