Notre Dame linebackers coach and St. Francis grad Max Bullough talks National Championship prep with 9&10

NOTRE DAME - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a chance to claim their first National Championship since 1988. A big reason for the team’s success this year has been the defense, coached in part by Traverse City St. Francis graduate Max Bullough.

Bullough was promoted to linebackers coach for Notre Dame prior to the season, he also spent time coaching in Traverse City after his NFL playing days were over, and it was there where Bullough said his love for coaching began.

Bullough talked with 9&10 about the preparation for the National Championship against Ohio State.

“It’s your routine, it’s your routine of when you wake up, it’s your routine of how you go about your business, it’s your routine of how do I, when do I watch film, how do I watch film? How do you give the tips to the players? You know, how do the how is it organized as a staff?

“And at the end of the day, it’s going to be our bond and what we can become as a unit, as a linebacker unit, as a defense, as a team, you know, as Notre Dame. That’s what’s going to matter. It really doesn’t come down to who you’re facing, it comes down to how much you know, your preparation and in your attack on the on the game plan.

“And then you just you just try to get players in positions that they’re comfortable in and give them, given what they can handle and take the rest of it off their plate,” Bullough said.

The game will be Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
