Tigers fall to Guardians 7-3, season comes to an end in the ALDS

CLEVELAND - The Detroit Tigers fell 7-3 in Game 5 of the ALDS, ending their memorable season.

The Tigers pitched their ace, Tarik Skubal, he went 6 innings giving up 5 earned runs and striking out 6.

The Tigers got the scoring started in the 5th inning as Kerry Carpenter pinch hit and drove in Trey Sweeney to go up 1-0.

The Guardians would respond in the bottom half of the 5th as Jose Ramirez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Andres Gimenez scored. Then the next batter, Lane Thomas, hit a grand slam to give the Guardians a 5-1 lead.

The Tigers would get a run back in the 6th inning as with runners on the corners Jake Rogers drove in Spencer Torkelson with a single. Detroit scored another in the 7th as Colt Keith’s double scored Riley Greene to make the score 5-3.

In the bottom of the 7th the Guardians would add to their lead with a Lane Thomas infield single scoring Steven Kwan. In the 8th Cleveland would extend their lead to 7-3 with an RBI single from Brayan Rocchio scoring Gimenez.

The Tigers came into the 9th inning looking to make something happen, but it wasn’t meant to be and the final score would be 7-3 in favor of the Guardians.
