Tigers lose Game 1 to Guardians

CLEVELAND-- The Guardians would jump out to an early advantage in the first after starter Ty Holton failed to record an out, giving up 2 runs, one unearned, before being pulled.

He was responsible for the runners on first and third when Reese Olson would enter and give up a three run home run to Lane Thomas on his first pitch thrown, Detroit would quickly trail 5-0.

The Tigers would get two on nobody out in the top of the fourth on a walk and base hit, but a ground ball double play from Torkelson put an end to the threat.

A great day by committee for the Guardians pitching staff stifled the Tigers bats, allowing only four hits, two walks, and 13 strikeouts en route to the Guardians game 1 victory by a score of 7-0.

The Tigers will look to rebound in game 2 on Monday, Oct. 7 at 4:08 p.m.
