The Detroit Tigers have secured their first playoff spot since 2014 with a 4-1 win over the Chicago White Sox Friday night.

Detroit will enter the MLB Postseason as a wild card team; who they play won’t be fully known until the final day of the regular season.

The Tigers haven’t competed in the postseason since 2014.

That appearance ended with a sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles.

The Tigers have been on a historic run since late August and early September, coming from the middle of the pack in the wild card race to the front of the line for one of the final postseason spots.

A combination of timely hitting and lights out pitching have propelled Detroit to a place they haven’t been in a decade.
