GAYLORD — Gaylord-based manufacturer Mayfair Plastics, Inc. will be acquired by Husco, a privately owned company based in Waukesha, Wis. The deal, announced March 13, 2026, ensures Mayfair Plastics will remain in Gaylord as one of the area’s largest employers and retain its entire workforce.

While financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, Mayfair Plastics will keep its name and manufacturing facility. Husco has been a customer of the Michigan-based company since 2021, collaborating on plastic molding solutions for transmission solenoids.

Founded in 1952, Mayfair Plastics produces injection molding components for the automotive and transportation industries. The company employs approximately 130 people and operates 77 molding machines within an 85,000-square-foot automated facility. Its manufacturing capabilities include wire harness assembly, sonic welding and component assembly for products such as doors, locks and timing chains.

Scott Weir is the president of Mayfair Plastics. He said the acquisition provides new opportunities for the team to grow by combining local expertise with Husco’s international reach. “Husco is exactly the right company to help Mayfair Plastics continue our growth and write our next chapter,” Weir said. “Its leaders understand what we do, respect how we do it and share our vision for excellence. We share a similar culture grounded in intelligent risk taking, unwavering commitment to quality and performance and being a great place where people want to grow their careers and make a difference in their communities.”

Husco specializes in hydraulic and electro-mechanical control systems for the automotive and off-highway vehicle industries. Based in Waukesha, the company maintains a global footprint with additional operations in China, India and the United Kingdom. Todd Zakreski, the president of Husco’s automotive division, said the acquisition addresses the increasing use of plastic components in modern vehicle systems.

“Their capabilities fill a growing need, as plastic components are becoming much more prevalent in the systems used by our customers to transform vehicles into advanced, connected instruments,” Zakreski said. “Together, we can explore new opportunities for growth without disrupting any of the things that make Mayfair Plastics successful.” Zakreski described Mayfair Plastics as an “anchor of the Gaylord community” and said that status will continue under the new ownership.

Husco has previously been recognized for its corporate culture and charitable contributions, receiving the 2025 Deloitte Community Champion Award. The company’s philanthropic efforts are largely focused on K-12 education. In 2017, the company launched the Saint Augustine Preparatory Academy in Milwaukee, which is scheduled to open a second campus later this year.

New projects involving the plastics team will begin immediately. Full integration of Mayfair Plastics into Husco is expected to be completed by the end of fiscal 2026.
