TRAVERSE CITY — The Downtown Traverse City Association will host Get Away or Stay & Play from March 13-15, a district-wide shopping and dining event aimed at bringing spring break-themed promotions downtown during the late-winter season.
The three-day event is designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore downtown while preparing for spring travel or planning a staycation. Participating merchants will feature resort-ready fashion and travel essentials as well as themed menus, specialty cocktails, in-store experiences and curated promotions.
“March can be a quieter time for retail and restaurants, which makes it the perfect occasion to create something fun and energizing,” said Sara Klebba, director of events and engagement for the Traverse City Downtown Development Authority. “Get Away or Stay & Play invites people to shake off winter, step downtown, and experience that ‘vacay’ feeling, whether they’re packing for a trip or planning a day trip right here.”
The Downtown Traverse City Association said the event is intended to support local businesses year-round and drive traffic during slower seasonal periods. The organization said businesses are encouraged to lean into the theme with offerings that go beyond discounts, including immersive decor and specialty experiences.
Visitors will be able to shop for spring break apparel and accessories, try destination-inspired food and drinks, including options for pets, and build a staycation itinerary within walking distance. The Downtown Traverse City Association said @Downtown_TC will also run a social media contest on its Facebook, Instagram and TikTok channels.
A list of participating businesses and special offers will be updated throughout the event at downtowntc.com.
The Downtown Traverse City Association said it supports the downtown district through events, promotions and initiatives intended to strengthen the local business community and connect merchants with residents and visitors.
