HARRISON — A 44-year-old Harrison man was arrested on multiple felony charges Saturday morning following an online child predator investigation. Richard Todd Shank was taken into custody at his residence on East Long Lake Road at approximately 10:31 a.m. on March 7, 2026.
The investigation began after the nonprofit organization Bikers Against Predators contacted the Clare County Sheriff’s Office. The group had been communicating with Shank online for several days prior to his arrest, posing as decoys.
During the online exchange, Shank allegedly believed he was speaking with two juvenile females, ages 12 and 13. Investigators stated that Shank requested the decoys send nude images of themselves and attempted to coordinate in-person meetings for the purpose of engaging in sexual intercourse.
Members of Bikers Against Predators confronted Shank at his home before contacting law enforcement. A sergeant from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and conducted a formal interview with Shank. Based on that interview and evidence collected during the multi-day investigation, officials placed him under arrest.
Shank faces a total of eight felony counts. These include two counts of using a computer to communicate with another to commit a crime, two counts of child sexually abusive activity, two counts of accosting children for immoral purposes and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Following his arrest, Shank was lodged in the Clare County Jail. During his arraignment in the 80th District Court, a judge set his bond at $20,000 cash or surety. He remains in custody at this time.
The Clare County Sheriff’s Office is led by Sheriff John S. Wilson and Undersheriff Edward D. Williams. The office is located on West Main Street in Harrison.
The case remains under investigation by the Clare County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities indicated that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
