CADILLAC — The Cadillac Wexford Public Library is cultivating more than just plants with its Seed Library program. The program, now in its third year, offers free seeds to local gardeners, promoting gardening and community involvement. The program addresses food insecurity, an issue affecting many rural areas, by providing access to free seeds for those looking to grow their own food.

“Gardening has a lot of benefits.” Says Tracy Logan, the library’s director. “It’s, good for your health. It’s good for the environment. It helps with food insecurity. It has a lot of benefits. And it’s a really easy way for us to make a positive impact on the community.” Plant people are unique and lovely and they love to share, and they love to talk about what they’re doing and they’re so enthusiastic and creative.”

The Seed Library will be available until September, with seeds accessible at the Cadillac, Manton, and Buckley locations.
