The Purdue Global Board of Trustees appointed Mesick native Eva Nodine, as the university’s CEO.
Nodine will be responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the online institution.
Nodine previously served as the chief financial officer and chief operating officer for Purdue Global starting in May 2024. In those roles, she oversaw financial planning, human resources, marketing, information technology and legal affairs.
Nodine has been with Purdue University since 2012, holding several leadership positions including vice president, deputy chief financial officer and assistant treasurer. She also served as the senior director of financial planning and analysis and the director of benefits. Between 2021 and 2024, she was the treasurer for Purdue Global.
Michael Berghoff, chair of the Purdue Global Board of Trustees, said Nodine was part of the team that assisted with the initial acquisition of Purdue Global. He noted that her experience with university operations has helped the institution grow and benefit its students.
Nodine replaces Chris Ruhl, who had been serving as the interim CEO. Ruhl is the chief financial officer and treasurer for Purdue University and will continue in those permanent roles. Ruhl said he has worked closely with Nodine since 2017 and praised her commitment to the university’s mission.
“Purdue Global has a great leader in Eva. I’ve worked closely with Eva since 2017 and her vision and commitment to Purdue Global’s integral contribution to Purdue’s land-grant mission is unwavering,” Ruhl said. He added that her experience leading large projects and strategic planning would help the university thrive.
Nodine expressed a personal passion for helping working adults earn credentials to pursue new careers. She noted that she earned her own degrees while working, including one through an online program. She emphasized that student success would remain a priority during her tenure.
“Student success is a key cornerstone for Purdue Global and I’m looking forward to serving as Purdue Global’s CEO and working with leadership and faculty as we provide opportunities for working adult learners,” Nodine said.
Purdue Global currently has more than 36,000 students enrolled. During the 2024-25 academic year, the university awarded more than 13,400 degrees and certificates. The institution is a nonprofit, public university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
The majority of the student body consists of working adults, with 83% of students employed while enrolled. University data shows that 62% of students are ages 30 and older, while 52% have children or other dependents. Additionally, 49% of the population are first-generation college students and 28% are military-related.
