WEXFORD COUNTY — A woman connected to an officer involved shooting in Cadillac has taken a plea.
42-year-old Stephanie Ferrante pleaded guilty Wednesday in Cadillac’s district court to lying to a peace officer during an investigation related to an armed robbery and home invasion that took place back on January 2nd.
In exchange for the plea, charges of lying to a peace officer during a violent crime and a fourth offense habitual offender charge were dropped.
Ferrante was sentenced to 47 days in jail, with 47 days credit and ordered to pay $625 in fines.
Michigan State Police say a vehicle believed to have been stolen during a home invasion, and murder of homeowner Stephen Billett that had happened earlier in the day was stopped on Laurel Street in Wexford County
During the traffic stop, a man identified later as Charles Stewart, allegedly pointed a handgun at Cadillac officers. An officer struck Stewart, fatally killing him.
An investigation later determined that that officer was justified in using deadly force.
Ferrante was a passenger in that stolen vehicle. She was not injured in the shooting and was taken into custody as part of the investigation.
