
ANTRIM COUNTY — Jason McGovern, 43, was arrested on Jan. 29, 2026, following a Michigan State Police investigation into allegations of child abuse.
The Gaylord man is accused of physically assaulting a child in Antrim County.
The investigation began in January 2025 through the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post. Troopers submitted their investigative findings to the Antrim County Prosecutor’s Office, which authorized an arrest warrant for felony child abuse and assault charges.
McGovern, 43, of Gaylord, was taken into custody without incident. Following the arrest, authorities lodged McGovern at the Antrim County Jail.
The charges against McGovern were filed in the 86th District Court in Antrim County. He was arraigned on Feb. 3, 2025, on one count of Child Abuse Second Degree and one count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder.
McGovern is scheduled for a court examination on Feb. 18 at 11 a.m.
