GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Traverse City Area Public Schools has approved the Superintendent’s 2026 Goals.
The goals are part of the evaluation of Dr. John VanWagoner, which is required by the state.
Dr. John VanWagoner says that there are five main goals that are part of the district’s five year strategic plan:

- Help students improve literacy
- Help students improve math
- Expand programs the district offers
- Recruit more staff
- Help students with their mental health.
But, the districts biggest focus is on literacy.
Dr. VanWagoner said that they have adopted a CLA and ELA program, and are excited to implement that and make sure teachers are fully trained.
Dr. VanWagoner adds that the district will also be working on multiple construction projects.
