CADILLAC — Cadillac residents are anticipating the opening of a new Dunkin’ drive-thru location.

The new shop will be located at 1011 S. Mitchell St., previously a Kentucky Fried Chicken and more recently a Christian book store.

According to Cadillac Community Development Specialist Abigail Pluger, the location does not have an official date set but is nearing its grand opening.

“A few weeks ago, we had a phone call with the property owners and they are in the home stretch getting very close, getting a lot of those final inspections completed,” Pluger said. “They will be doing a soft opening first, just to help with getting trained for their employees. Once they do have an official date for a grand opening that will be announced, we’ll be working with the Chamber of Commerce and Dunkin’, so we’ll all try to do a coordinated press release for that.”

Superior Sign Company worked on the installation of new signage at the new location on Feb. 7. Owner Patrick Burk shared that there are potential plans to install and replace the road sign, but that the structure was not currently stable enough and the company is proposing to take it down and do something new.

Pluger said the hiring search has begun with the announcement from the location manager seeking new employees for the location once it has opened.

“There is a specific Dunkin’ process for training that they have to go through,” she said. “I know that they had advertised a hiring day for interviews. I don’t know what date they did that, but I know that they did put that out on social media a couple of weeks ago as well.”
