GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Traverse City Area Public Schools has taken the next step in upgrading Traverse City West Middle School.
During a Board Meeting Monday, TCAPS discussed plans for building a new choir room and expanding the old one the band and orchestra space.
The renovation is part of a 2024 bond that was approved for the school district, and will cost about $4 million.
Right now, Superintendent Dr. John VanWagoner says that students are keeping instruments in the hallway because they do not have enough instrument storage.
Renovations include a brand new 1,400 square foot choir room, plus an expansion of the current one that will now house the band and orchestra instruments.
TCAPS is set to begin the renovations in March during spring break, with construction completed by November
