TRAVERSE CITY — JoJo’s Cookie Company is holding a Valentine’s Day presale for specialty sweetheart boxes and heart-shaped cookie cakes at its locations in Traverse City and Petoskey. The gourmet bakery is offering customized treats for the holiday and provides nationwide shipping for customers.
The bakery is featuring a rotating selection of seasonal flavors and customizable options for both local pickup and long-distance gifting.
The sweetheart boxes feature six different flavors for the month of February. According to company information, these include cake batter with red and pink sprinkles, strawberry shortcake, peanut butter caramel, sugar chocolate chip and red velvet crinkle. Customers can also choose to customize these boxes with specific flavor combinations if they prefer.
Customers can also select from different custom box configurations. The bakery specializes in gourmet treats and maintains locations in Petoskey and downtown Traverse City.
Marisa Farr, Manager of JoJo’s Cookies, said the February holiday is one of the busiest times of the year for the business. “We have a presale going on for sweetheart boxes and cookie cakes for Valentine’s Day,” Marisa said. She noted that because quantities are limited, the specialty items tend to sell out quickly. “They go fast, especially on Valentine’s Day. It’s one of our biggest holidays,” Marisa said.
The production process begins at the Petoskey location, where the dough is prepared before being sent to the kitchens for final preparation. Alex Smit, a baker at JoJo’s Cookies who joined the company last fall, handles the morning baking and decoration of the treats. “I get the opportunity to bake these in the morning and decorate them,” Alex said. The bakery offers various buttercream frostings for the heart-shaped cookie cakes, including chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.
For the cookie cakes, customers can choose from sugar, red velvet or chocolate chip bases and select their own sprinkles. The cakes are often finished with a classic shell border and personalized messages. Alex said the seasonal rush provides an opportunity to interact with the community. “Just picking up the pace and like the customers and seeing all their faces getting to enjoy the cookies,” Alex said.
