TRAVERSE CITY — A long-time watering hole in Downtown Traverse City will be closing its doors for good at the end of February, according to a Facebook post by Union Street Station.
The post goes on to say Union Street’s closing was not up to them. They say the building’s owner has other plans for the space and that they are not happy with the decision. They say they have no idea what those plans are.
Union Street owners said “false accusations” have been made about their obligations under their lease and that they will be filing an answer to that next week.
In the meantime, they are asking anyone with memories of Union Street Station to share them on their social media or come in for one last time the create a lasting memory.
They also regretted not informing some people of their shutdown ahead of time but cited “gossip and social media” as reason for not being able to control the announcement.
Union Street Station’s last day of operation will be Saturday, Feb. 28.
