LANSING — The application period is now open for the Upper Peninsula’s Deer Habitat Improvement Partnership Initiative, a competitive grant program through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The initiative supports projects on private land aimed at improving deer habitat across the U.P., using funding from the state’s Deer Range Improvement Program.
New for 2026, the program budget has doubled to $200,000, with grant requests now ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, while the required match remains at 25%.
Applicants can also bundle multiple project proposals under one application, as long as they stay under the maximum award amount.
Project applications must be submitted or postmarked by March 6, with successful applicants notified by March 27.
