A judge ruled Thursday that a previously planned show cause hearing was unnecessary because evidence in the case is forthcoming.

Park was 38 weeks pregnant when she went missing on Nov. 3. Her body was discovered on Nov. 25 in the Manistee National Forest in Wexford County, located near the area where she was last reported seen.

Cortney Bartholomew and Bradly Bartholomew face multiple charges, including homicide, torture and conspiracy. A show cause hearing had been set after defense attorneys accused the Michigan Attorney General’s Office of withholding key evidence. At a court hearing in early January, lawyers for the defendants stated they had not received any information beyond the initial probable cause affidavit.

The judge addressed the missing evidence during today’s court appearance, stating that the materials are forthcoming. Because the evidence is being turned over, the judge determined there was no longer a need to proceed with the show cause hearing.

During the proceedings, the judge also requested a separate hearing to investigate why a prosecutor from the Attorney General’s Office did not attend. The official had been requested to be present at the court today but did not show up.

Bartholomew, who is the biological mother of Park, initially told investigators that she last saw her daughter getting into an unidentified vehicle at her home. Police arrested both Cortney and her husband days after Park’s body was discovered in the national forest.
