MANISTEE COUNTY — Onekama Consolidated Schools is taking the next step in updating their district through construction.
Thanks to a $10.5 Million bond approved in November of 2024, the district has been slowly updating the district through updated security, an updated gym, new playground equipment, and more.
During the last board meeting on the 12th, the board approved construction bids for the next step – new outdoor facilities.
Superintendent Dan Mesyar says that they have many plans, including a new parking lot for the baseball field, new concession building, a new pickleball facility, and a new football stadium.
Mesyar added that the stadium will also feature near bathroom facilities, new team rooms, and new locker rooms.
The district aims to begin construction by April and have the construction completed by October of this year.
