GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Networks Northwest has announced they are now a Recovery Friendly Workplace.
The announcement was made 6 months after obtaining the designation.
Regional Director of Policy and Resource Management Lisa Schut says that becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace signals to employees that they can ask for help without fear or judgement.
Part of the designation means that for about three months, Naloxone distribution boxes have been installed at all Northwest Michigan Works! Service Centers in Petoskey, Cadillac, Traverse City, and Manistee.
Schut said that the public can just walk up to the boxes, open the door, and take as many boxes of NARCAN as they need.
She said “It’s important for us to have these distribution boxes throughout the community, because of course, we care about our employees to have these NARCAN boxes, but we also care about our community,”
Right now, Schut says they have had very positive feedback from the community, and have already had to restock the boxes.
Now that they know people use the service, Schut encourages people to take advantage of the resource.
