NORTHERN MICHIGAN — Josh shared in a Jan. 19 video update that he returned to the hospital a day after being released without an official diagnosis.
He said he left the hospital the previous day with strong pain medication and crutches but decided to go back because the pain was not easing and was spreading.
Josh said the pain or injury felt like it was improving but believed the medication was masking symptoms.
“I’m unsure why I didn’t receive an actual diagnosis, and I don’t want to point fingers as everyone I met in the hospital yesterday were very polite and attentive and I appreciate all the work they do,” he said in the video. “I just don’t want to start treatment for something that I ‘think’ it is when it could be something else.”
Later that day in another update, Josh confirmed the doctor had seen him and has said he would be having an MRI scan and an IV put in to administer additional pain relief.
Josh said he would provide updates on his health as he learns more about his diagnoses and subsequent recovery.
Original Story
PETOSKEY — Josh, one half of the British content creator duo Josh & Jase, was hospitalized in the United States after experiencing severe pain while traveling through Michigan, according to posts shared on social media.

Prior to the medical emergency, the two had been visiting the Traverse City area, and stopped by Boyne Mountain for a sledding session, a light bridge walk and an igloo exploration.
They also visited Sleder’s Family Tavern to kiss the moose, and spent time exploring downtown Traverse City despite winter storms blowing.
The influencer pair explained in a Jan. 19 update that Josh was rushed to an emergency room in Petoskey after he began experiencing sharp pains.
In a Facebook post dated Jan. 18, Josh said he woke up feeling fine before his condition rapidly worsened.
A separate Jan. 18 post from Jase described finding Josh on the floor in pain and said he was receiving care.
“I am on a few different painkillers that have helped, but I’m still battling through it,” Josh said Jan. 18, adding that he was “alive and on the mend” and grateful for the support he received.
In updates later that day, Josh rested while under the influence of strong painkillers as he awaited results and for doctors to provide answers.
The two said in the Jan. 19 video update that while they provided assistance in managing his pain, there is still no diagnoses they have been informed of as to what caused Josh’s severe pain.
The duo said they have travel insurance to cover medical expenses and declined public donations or GoFundMe offers.
Before the health emergency, Josh and Jase had been touring Michigan and sharing their experiences with followers, including stops in South Haven.
The creators, who have a following of more than 3 million, are known for viral reactions to American culture and had been promoting local businesses during their visit.
They previously served as tourism ambassadors for Louisiana.
Jase thanked followers for their support and said the focus was on rest and recovery while awaiting further updates.
“The hospital staff were amazing,” Josh said in the Jan. 19 video update. “I hit the floor and it was awful. I’m not moving around very well right now, but I’m resting and appreciate the support.”
