CADILLAC — Marcus Peccia, City Manager of Cadillac, has requested a salary adjustment of 24.20% to align with regional averages. He cites his sixteen years of service and significant contributions to the community in support of his request.

Peccia’s current salary is $120,249.23 and it has not been adjusted since Fiscal Year 2023. He has identified a compensation gap of approximately $22,635.23 or 18.82% compared to other municipalities within the Big North Conference.

During his tenure, Peccia has facilitated over $20 million in outside funding for various development projects. This amount includes a recent $8.2 million award aimed at extending the city’s water system to connect properties using private wells.

Peccia highlighted his accomplishments, such as leading the Cadillac Commons project, which transformed downtown and integrated new public/private partnerships and economic development initiatives. The project led to recognition from the Michigan Municipal League, including the Community Builder Award.

Cadillac achieved Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) certification in 2021 under Peccia’s leadership, indicating a strong foundation for attracting private investment and enhancing economic development efforts. The city is now working toward attaining 2.0 certification by updating its Zoning Code and Master Plan.

Peccia has been instrumental in addressing community needs, including the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. His administration implemented a comprehensive response strategy that ensured continuity of public services during the health crisis.

He has also secured funding for significant development projects across various sectors, including residential and commercial. Initiatives include new housing units expected to add approximately 400 residential units once completed.

Peccia’s request for salary adjustments will be reviewed by the City Council, which is expected to discuss and act on the proposal in the upcoming meetings to align his compensation with established regional standards. He seeks the council’s consideration for adjustments based on the significant achievements during his sixteen years in office.
