CADILLAC — The Cadillac City Council is currently reviewing an agreement to formalize the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) as the managing body for Cadillac Commons, following an extensive investment of over $1 million in improvements.

The agreement will establish the DDA’s role in managing, scheduling, marketing and administrating Cadillac Commons, which encompasses the White Pine Trailhead, Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion, City Park, The Market and other community spaces. This partnership aims to enhance the functionality and vibrancy of these areas while ensuring municipal responsibilities for maintenance and infrastructure remain with the City.

The DDA has long aimed to manage Cadillac Commons effectively and with the recent hiring of a full-time director, they are better equipped to undertake this role. The DDA’s investment showcases their commitment to improving the downtown district’s community space.

By overseeing Cadillac Commons, the DDA intends to generate revenues that will be reinvested into Downtown Cadillac, promoting sustained growth and community benefits for residents and visitors alike.

The DDA Board approved the management agreement at their regular meeting on Dec. 3, 2025, reflecting ongoing efforts to formalize partnerships that enhance urban space management and community engagement.

City Council is expected to make a decision regarding the approval of the agreement with the DDA in the upcoming meeting. Further actions following the council’s approval will revolve around the implementation of effective management strategies for Cadillac Commons.
