
UPDATE: Kenneth Gryzbowski, a 71-year-old man with the onset of dementia, was found safe by the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office. He was last seen in Big Rapids on December 12, 2025, and was seen again on January 2nd in a local establishment. He is known to frequently walk the roads between Big Rapids and Canadian Lakes. The sheriff’s office is making plans to ensure he has proper living arrangements.
ORIGINAL STORY---The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a missing endangered person report for Kenneth Grzybowski.
Per a Jan. 9 news release from Sheriff Brian Miller, deputies were searching for Grzybowski, 71, of Mecosta.
The sheriff’s office noted that Grzybowski has the onset of dementia.
He was last seen in the city of Big Rapids on Dec. 12, 2025, and was last seen wearing tan pants, a green and yellow Green Bay Packers winter jacket and a yellow Green Bay Packers stocking cap.
Friday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office said Grzybowski was seen by multiple people last Friday, January 2nd, in a local establishment in Big Rapids from 1:30-3:30 PM. People there told deputies he didn’t appear to be in an distress, but investigators are still trying to figure out where he is.
The sheriff’s office described Grzybowski as 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 200 pounds, with shoulder-length gray hair and a gray mustache.
He was known to frequently walk the roads and takes several different routes between Big Rapids and Canadian Lakes, the sheriff’s office said.
