GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — A fire in Blair Township resulted in the death of one inside a home on Jan. 9.
At 4:20 a.m., Blair Township Emergency Services responded to a residential fire reported in the 5000 block of Blair Townhall Road. When crews arrived, they found significant fire damage, with flames visible through the roof of the single-family home.
The fire was extinguished approximately 30 minutes after first responders arrived at the scene. After the fire was brought under control, emergency personnel discovered one male occupant deceased inside the residence. No additional injuries to anyone inside or firefighters were reported during the incident.
The Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit has been contacted to determine the cause of the fire. As of now, the exact cause remains under investigation, with authorities working to gather details about the incident.
Fire Chief Bill Parker of Blair Township Emergency Services expressed condolences to the family affected by this tragedy. “We extend our sincere condolences to all those impacted by this loss,” Parker stated.
