Munson Medical Center lockdown follows verbal threat investigation

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City police are investigating a verbal threat of violence at the Munson Medical Center campus, which initially led to a lockdown of the facility.

That lockdown has now been lifted and police have cleared the scene.

Due to the threat, all individuals on the Munson Medical Center campus were instructed to shelter in place, avoiding windows and doors.

Those outside the facility were told to return to their vehicles and exit campus immediately. An initial Munson alert incorrectly described the situation as an active shooter threat, prompting protective measures for employees and patients.

Law enforcement emphasized that safety protocols were followed during the incident. Munson Medical Center Security played a key role by coordinating with local authorities to manage the response. No information about any arrests has been released at this time.
