Residents looking for a warm place to ride out a snowstorm can find emergency warming shelters and heated public spaces open across Northern Michigan, with local agencies urging people to check hours, bring medications and plan for transportation as conditions change.
Local officials and nonprofits said shelter availability can shift based on staffing and weather, and they encouraged residents to call ahead when possible, watch for updates from county emergency management and use 2-1-1 or local public safety channels for the most current information.
