INDIAN RIVER — Damien Joseph-Michael Slaven, 26, of Indian River, Mich., was arrested for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, following an investigation by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
The arrest was made possible after it was detected that Slaven was viewing child sexually abusive material online. During a search of his residence, digital evidence was seized, leading to multiple charges against him.
Slaven is facing several charges: one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of distributing or promoting child sexually abusive material and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime. He was arraigned in the 89th Judicial District Court on Dec. 18, 2025, following his arrest.
The Michigan State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force emphasized the importance of internet safety, urging parents to communicate with their children about safe internet practices. The MSP assists communities with resources designed to keep children safe online.
