Holiday magic comes alive as families meet Santa in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY – Downtown Traverse City was bustling with holiday cheer as families visited Santa ahead of Christmas. For many, it’s a cherished tradition that brings back memories of their own childhoods while creating new ones with the next generation.

Gabriel Taylor, a local teacher, shared the excitement of taking his young daughter to see Santa for the first time. “This is our one and only, and every minute feels super special. This is the first time she’s been ready for Christmas, knows what it’s about, and is excited for it,” Taylor said.

Taylor said the tradition is a way to pass on the holiday magic he experienced growing up. “Some of my earliest memories are my parents and grandparents taking us to see Santa. I love that we have this as an option here in town—it’s a great experience,” he said.

Beyond the Santa hut, downtown Traverse City offers families plenty of festive activities, from tree lightings and parades to neighborhood decorations and holiday programs. These events give families the chance to connect with each other and with the community during the most wonderful time of the year.
