TRAVERSE CITY - Severe weather impacted opening weekend for a popular Traverse City Ski Hill.
Mt Holiday opened their doors and lifts Saturday morning, but, as strong winds moved through that evening, the area suffered a power outage, forcing management to close for the rest of the weekend.
Food & beverage director, Sean Anculloty said Now, with everything back up and running, said everyone handled the situation in stride and even had some fun.
“We had to close down and manually remove people from the chairlift, which was actually really exciting. Believe it or not, the kids were having fun with it and then we had like a bunch of parents and stuff in the bar and cheering it on. so, something that could have gone crazy. Thankfully, the outdoor operations were able to really just get everybody off the hill safely, and we all had fun,” said Anculloty.
Mt. Holiday said they’re happy to be back in operation and excited for the season.
