SAULT STE. MARIE — A 24-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario, was arraigned on charges after being arrested for possession of a stolen commercial vehicle on Dec. 12.

Yuvraj Singh was arrested near the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge when a Motor Carrier Officer initiated a stop on a semi-truck that was found to have commercial vehicle violations. It was confirmed that the semi-truck had been reported stolen out of Ontario, Canada and its VIN number had been altered.

Singh was arrested by a Motor Carrier Officer from the Sault Ste. Marie Post during patrol on the evening of Dec. 12. The officer discovered that the semi-truck had numerous commercial violations, leading to further investigation.Upon confirming the truck was stolen, authorities seized the vehicle and trailer from the scene, highlighting attempts made to conceal the truck’s identity.Yuvraj Singh was arraigned on Dec. 15, in the 91st District Court. He faces several charges, including receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle and motor vehicle fraud for misrepresenting the identity of the vehicle.After his arraignment, Singh was granted a personal recognizance bond with stipulations. Conditions include surrendering his passport, remaining within the county or state and wearing a GPS tether, along with several standard requirements pertaining to his release.
