COGNiTiON Science & Discovery Center seeks input from residents for future expansion plans

BEULAH — COGNiTiON Science & Discovery Center has launched a new Community Outreach and Engagement Campaign with support from Rotary Charities of Traverse City.

The initiative aims to connect with residents across Benzie County and neighboring areas to gather input that will guide the center’s future expansion.

COGNiTiON plans to host a series of community days, listening sessions, and surveys over the coming months to collect feedback from families, educators and community members.

Executive Director Kimmee Miller said the campaign will help ensure COGNiTiON’s next chapter reflects local priorities. “We’ve grown tremendously since opening in 2017, and it’s time to plan for the next chapter,” Miller said. “Before we take that step, we want to make sure we’re listening deeply to our community. This campaign is about co-creating the future of COGNiTiON together.”

The campaign began with a kickoff event that invited residents to tour the center, enjoy refreshments, and share feedback. A second input event is scheduled for January, along with a series of “Community Days” offering free admission from 1 to 5 p.m. to residents of specific counties:

  • Nov. 16 — Kalkaska and Antrim
  • Nov. 23 — Benzie
  • Dec. 7 — Leelanau
  • Dec. 14 — Grand Traverse
  • Jan. 11 — Manistee
  • Jan. 18 — Wexford and Missaukee

COGNiTiON’s Director of Development and Marketing Dawn Wisner said Rotary Charities’ support is helping ensure the organization’s growth remains “intentional, inclusive, and informed by the community.”

Residents can share their feedback through a short community survey available at www.discovercognition.org or by subscribing to the organization’s newsletter.
